Safety Monday: Equipment and Roadway Safety

Posted on — September 29, 2025

It’s Safety Monday at Platte Valley Equipment! This week we’re talking about something that affects all of us— equipment and roadway safety. Whether you’re running machines in the yard, hauling equipment down the highway, or maybe you encounter equipment on your drive a little extra attention goes a long way.

Working with ag equipment is part of our everyday, but it’s also one of the biggest risks where things can go wrong.

A few simple reminders before getting on the road:

Do a quick walk-around: Check tires, hoses, and fluids before you hop in.

Gear up: Safety glasses, gloves, and vests keep you protected.

Communicate: A little communication can prevent big accidents.

Shut it down: Don’t leave machines running when you walk away. Park it, brake it, and power it off.

Roadway Safety

Driving equipment or hauling gear on the road means we’re sharing space with the public. Here’s how to keep it safe:

Be seen: Use flashers, slow-moving signs, and follow escort rules when needed.

Keep your eyes up: Stay alert for traffic, intersections, and soft shoulders.

Lock it down: Make sure everything on your trailer is strapped tight before you roll.

Follow the rules: Speed limits and stop signs still matter, even in a tractor or truck.

Why It Matters

At the end of the day, we all want to head home safe.

Paying attention to equipment and roadway safety helps protect you, your coworkers, and everyone else out there on the road.

At Platte Valley Equipment, safety isn’t just something we talk about on Mondays—it’s a habit we work to practice every single day.
