County fairs, community days, and local festivals are the heart of our rural culture, and they don’t happen without a strong base of volunteers. At Platte Valley, our employees take pride in supporting these events—often behind the scenes.
Clarkson Czech Days: A Cultural Highlight
Looking for traditional Czech food and entertainment? Head to Clarkson Czech Days. With polka music, family-friendly activities, street dances, kiddie tractor pulls, Tarok tournaments, and authentic Czech cuisine, it’s always a memorable event. Many dedicated volunteers make it all happen, including Platte Valley employees who help run the community food stand and pitch in wherever needed.
Parade Time: Tractors, Floats, and Big Smiles
Parades are always a highlight, and nothing makes kids’ eyes light up like a giant tractor rolling down the route. Platte Valley employees spend hot summer days assembling floats, polishing service trucks, and prepping tractors—all to bring smiles to families and children. Some even show off unique rides like John Deere bikes during the procession!
4-H Tractor Driving: Skills Put to the Test
Think you can drive a tractor? One of the most anticipated events for 4-H members is the tractor driving competition. Participants are tested on their knowledge of tractor safety, operation, and common component identification. The real challenge, however, lies in the timed driving course. Drivers must maneuver without knocking down any stakes or flags, which represent “gates” and “buildings.” Going forward is one thing—can you back a hayrack in and out of a tight spot?
A Season of Service and Lasting Impact
Though fair season isn’t over yet, countless hours and lots of sweat have already been poured into helping our youth stay engaged in agriculture, building skills, and creating lifelong memories.
